Substance abuse treatment centers offering help for Oxycodone users

According to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), almost 2 million Americans have taken Oxycodone, a prescription painkiller, for recreational purposes. While there is no risk of Oxycodone addiction when taken properly and for medical purposes, large doses of the drug can cause dependency. Substance abuse treatment centers may provide help for those struggling with painkiller dependency and relief for the families of individuals who are suffering.

Almost 2,000 people died in Florida alone after overdosing on Oxycodone in 2009, according to the Northwest Florida Daily News. Roxycodone and Hydrocodone are also growing in popularity on the streets, which are just as strong as Oxycodone.

Individuals who are dependent on these painkillers may suffer symptoms of withdrawal, such as pain, nausea and restlessness. Drug rehabilitation centers may offer help to those who are dependent on drugs, such as Oxycodone, in the form of psychological counseling and detoxification programs.

There is a 50 to 80 percent chance of relapsing within the first few months following the completion of a 12-step detox program, according to Oxycodone-Addiction.com. Although the dependency is tough to break, individuals and their loved ones will be better off seeking help.
